AllergyCare™ Organic Cotton Comforter Covers are for those who want a complete night-time allergy solution — without chemicals, coatings, or the crinkly plastic feel of synthetic covers. Woven from tightly woven, certified organic cotton that is non-dyed, non-treated, and chemical-free, this is the cover we recommend for anyone with chemical sensitivities or a preference for natural-fiber bedding.

Allergists have been recommending allergen-proof bedding encasements long before we opened our doors in 1989 — and the organic cotton version has been a consistent favorite among customers who want the softest, most natural option available.

Why Organic Cotton?

Standard cotton goes through significant chemical processing — bleaching, dyeing, and finishing treatments that leave residues in the fabric. For people with chemical sensitivities, eczema, or skin reactions, those residues can be a problem even in a well-made cover.

AllergyCare™ Organic Cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers and processed without dyes or chemical treatments. What you get is pure, breathable cotton fabric — soft, quiet, and completely free of the additives that can trigger reactions in sensitive individuals.

How It Works

Dust mites, their fecal matter, and decomposing body fragments accumulate deep inside comforters over time — and those particles are the actual allergens that trigger reactions. Waking up with irritated eyes, itchy skin, or sinus congestion is often a sign of exposure at night. You cannot wash them out of a comforter. The only effective solution is a complete physical barrier.

AllergyCare™ Organic Cotton Comforter Covers fully enclose your comforter with a zippered closure that leaves no gaps, plus corner ties to keep the comforter from shifting inside the cover. The tightly woven organic cotton fabric has a mean pore size of 4.74 microns — small enough to block dust mite allergen particles, pet dander, mold spores, and pollen. From the first night, you stop being exposed to the allergens that have been affecting your sleep.

  • Certified organic cotton — non-dyed, non-treated, chemical-free.
  • 4.74 micron mean pore size (PMI Test Results)
  • 233 thread count — helps keep the cover cool and breathable.
  • Zippered closure with heavy-gauge nylon zippers and coated rust-proof metal zipper pulls.
  • Corner ties keep your comforter secure and in place inside the cover.
  • Soft, breathable, and quiet — no crinkle, no plastic feel.
  • No added chemicals or antimicrobial treatments.
  • Natural cream color — undyed, unprocessed cotton, so slight shade variation is normal.
  • Manufacturer's Limited Lifetime Warranty on construction.

Who It's Best For

  • Anyone with chemical sensitivities or reactions to synthetic fabrics
  • People with eczema or skin conditions who need an untreated natural fiber next to their skin
  • Anyone who wants to turn an existing comforter — new or old — into allergy-sensitive bedding without buying a new one
  • Parents who want chemical-free bedding protection for children
  • Eco-conscious buyers who prefer certified organic materials

Already using an AllergyCare™ Organic Cotton mattress or pillow cover? The comforter cover completes a full allergen-barrier bedding system.

Get the Right Size

Comforter covers are available in Twin (66" x 86"), Full/Queen (86" x 86"), and King (106" x 86"). Choose the size that matches your comforter — the cover is designed to fit any comforter of that size, new or old, and the corner ties keep it from bunching or shifting once it's zipped up.

Easy Care Instructions

Machine wash your organic cotton comforter cover as you would any fine cotton fabric, in hot water up to 140°. Do not use chlorine bleach. Machine dry on medium setting.

Special Note: Wash with the zipper fully closed to protect the corner ties from fraying, and make sure the cover is completely dry before use.

Natural Cream Color. Our organic cotton has not been dyed or processed, so the natural cotton pigments can cause color variations. Like all 100% cotton products, this cover will shrink slightly when washed and dried for the first time. We have accounted for this and made the covers slightly larger — they will not be too small after the first wash.

Commonly asked questions

1. What is the difference between organic cotton and regular cotton comforter covers?

Standard cotton is processed with bleaches, dyes, and chemical finishing agents that leave residues in the fabric. AllergyCare™ Organic Cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides and processed without dyes or chemical treatments — making it the right choice for anyone with chemical sensitivities or skin reactions. Both fabrics provide equivalent allergen protection. The difference is in the chemical profile of the fabric itself.

2. Is this cover noisy or crinkly?

No. AllergyCare™ Organic Cotton is a micro-weave fabric — the tight weave of the cotton itself creates the allergen barrier, with no vinyl layers, plastic coatings, or membrane backing. It feels and sounds like regular cotton fabric. No crinkle, no noise, no plastic feel.

3. Is this cover safe for children and babies?

Yes. The fabric is non-dyed, non-treated, and free of VOCs, flame retardants, and synthetic coatings. It is a good choice for children with eczema, asthma, or allergies.

4. Do I need to wash the cover before first use?

No. It is not necessary. We do not treat any of our fabrics with chemicals or antimicrobial coatings. Please note that we do not accept the return of washed covers unless they are defective.

5. Can I use this over any comforter?

Yes. The cover is designed to fit any comforter of the matching size — new or old — so you don't need to replace a comforter you already love. Corner ties keep it in place inside the cover.

6. Which size should I order?

Match the cover size to your comforter size — Twin, Full/Queen, or King. If you are between sizes, choose the larger option.

Not super happy

I’m rather dissatisfied with the color of this cover. It certainly not a cream or off white color as the picture demonstrates. It’s more like the color of butter or even darker. I haven’t used it yet because rather than using bleach to lighten it to match the rest of my bedding and possibly damaging the fabric, I’ve been laying it out in the sun trying to fade the color. This is not something I would put another decorative cover over, I would end up being way too warm. I think they should update the picture online because it’s nowhere near accurate. But if color doesn’t matter to you, I’m sure it would be fine. Just make sure that when you wash it the zipper is closed. I left mine open and one of the tie straps in the corner became completely frayed and undone. I’ve tried to braid the loose strands so I can still use it. Also something I noticed is that the inside of the cover feels softer than the outside. That seems backwards to me.

Hi Donna, thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re sorry to hear the color didn’t meet your expectations and appreciate your tips on care. We’ll pass your comments about the product images and fabric feel to our team. If you need any assistance, feel free to reach out!

good quality

I am using this as a protective cover only, going under another duvet cover. It is certainly thick enough and well constructed enough to be used solo. It fit perfectly over my queen duvet. Very pleased

Thank you for your comment on our AllergyCare™ Organic Cotton Comforter Cover! We are glad to hear that you are pleased with the quality and fit of the cover.

It works, and feels luxurious, no exaggeration.

First, it works!! I loved the one I bought here 2 months ago so much, I convinced my partner to get a second one for his room, and I bought pillow cases too.

I’ve had dust mite allergies for years and the ones on my down duvet comforter are so bad, my eyes and nose used to start watering immediately when I’d get in bed, even when freshly washed. I’d wake up stuffy, sneezing, coughing, teary-eyed. I used to put 3 comforter sheet casings over my duvet to try to lock the dust mites in. But the pain of all the extra laundry (not to mention arm strength and duvet wrestling to get them in their cases) was killing me.

I found the allergy store with a random search, and I’m SO lucky I did.

Second - the duvet cover sheet feels amazing! It’s soft, silky(ish), just slightly heavier (think really nice quality cotton that feels a little silky, but it more the consistency of a very light and soft drop cloth), and it holds its shape somewhat, or gives the duvet a nice plush shape - like 5-star hotel bedding does. It literally makes my bed feel like I’m at the 4 Seasons Hotel, is what I’m trying to say here, folks. I’m picky, frugal, effective and efficient; I don’t like to waste time or money buying expensive things that don’t work. This sheet case is worth its weight in gold if it means this gal with allergies can sleep with feathers!

I have ordered a few items from the store, and they are all quality purchases.

I just got this cover and am very happy with it. It is fairly thick, so adds quite a bit of weight and warmth to the bed, maybe too much for summer. But it is well-made and has a good zipper. My daughter, with dust mite allergies, slept better the first night we put it on the bed.

I love it. It is a bit heavier than a standard duvet cover.

Hello , we absolutely love the products we purchased from you. I have been hesitating for years on acquiring allergy bedding as I thought they would be uncomfortable but the organic cotton items were purchased have been the opposite, and they have improved our breathing function. Thank you so much for providing these amazing products.

I have severe allergies. I ordered this and was pleasantly surprised with the thickness of the material.
I washed them twice (just because I'm like that) and put them on the bed. I used one as a duvet cover and one as a cover for my electric blanket. They are so far well work the money!

Excellent

After finding out I have a dust mite allergy and also an allergy to formaldehyde (which is potentially in a lot of fabrics), it took me a while to find a cover that I felt confident buying. I was honestly reluctant to make the splash on the cover since it was more expensive than others I've seen, so it took me a while to take the plunge, but eventually I decided to go for it. What I didn't expect was how luxurious it would make my duvet feel! With the organic cotton cover, my now-rather-old flimsy duvet feels like a top-of-the-range comforter that reminds me of the duck feather-filled duvets I had as a child. I've only been using the covers (I also purchased the mattress cover and pillow cases in the same line) for a few days, so I am not confident commenting on the effectiveness of reducing dust mite allergy symptoms just yet. But! I wanted to comment on the sheer quality of the item and how much more luxurious my sleep feels since I added these to my bed. Thank you!

Perfect purchase

Very happy with this purchase. The cover is of high quality. Color is oatmeal, beige. I have organic linens, so wanted a comforter cover that was organic as well. You can use the cover alone. It feels and sounds crisp. I put a duvet cover over the AllergyCare cover. It fits perfectly. Great value.

good product

I wanted organic duvet covers in twin size. Such are very hard to find on the internet. I wanted the fabric to be crisp, not too soft. These covers in the allergy store are good quality, organic, crisp, and easy to close with zipper. I would have preferred some beautiful pattern, and a little more luxurious, but these serve their purpose very well. Price is good, product feels very healthy.

Highly recommend

This duvet protector is one of the nicest I've found, as well as a great value. It's well made, with a strong zipper and durable but lightweight organic fabric that doesn't add a lot of unwanted weight to the duvet.
