It is hard to say, Austin Air guarantees them for 5 years. Here is what I will say about mine.
Today an old friend finally pushed out its last breath of fresh air.
For almost 27 years our Austin Air Healthmate Junior has been our constant companion in our office. No matter what was going on Junior was always by our side. Even when we went home at the end of the day and on weekends Junior continued to work.
Junior worked in several different places over the years:
• 7 different offices spaces
• 1 temporary relocation (hurricane Wilma took the roof off our offices in 2005 and we ran our business out of or home for 3 months)
• 2 states
• 5 cities
Junior worked hard from the very first day:
• Worked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
• Moved 120 cubic feet of air every minute of every day.
• Moved 1,617,408,000 cubic feet of air in its lifetime.
Junior did not need a lot of attention. We would wipe it down and/or vacuum the outside once a month or so and change out the filter every 4 years.
A couple weeks ago a client asked me if I thought Austin Air machines were worth the price. I told them it was the air cleaner in my office, and it had been running nonstop for years. I had no idea at the time its motor was dying, and its days were numbered.
I’m trying to think of other things we have that have lasted this long and that are in constant use. I can only think of one. It is my Aquathin Aqualite water purification system. My Wangler is getting close, it is 22 years old.
RIP Junior. You will be missed.
